Headteacher's Message

Dear Parents, Carers, and especially PUPILS,

I am extraordinarily privileged to welcome you to Amberley Court School. Amberley Court School (ACS) is a specialist school for children and young people aged 6 to 16 with high levels of anxiety and Social Emotional Mental Health difficulties. Many of our pupils have faced challenges in previous settings, and we are proud to offer them a place where they feel safe, accepted, and supported. All of the children in our care have a variety of difficulties, whether that be Autism (ASC), ADHD or they may just feel that they struggle to ‘fit in’ and communicate with the world around them, but we are all different. We all have different strengths and weaknesses, but this does not
lessen us, it is what makes us unique, interesting and exciting. At ACS we nurture yet challenge every pupil, promoting their strengths and building their confidence, resilience and self-worth, so they SHINE.

At Amberley Court School (ACS), our core belief is that All Can Shine. Every child has unique strengths, and we are committed to helping them discover and develop their potential —academically, socially, and emotionally.                                                                                                         Our approach is grounded in our three core values:

Belonging – building a strong, inclusive community where every pupil feels safe and valued
Compassion – showing empathy, kindness, and respect in everything we do
Curiosity – encouraging a love of learning and discovery in every form

We understand that many of our pupils arrive with anxiety, low self-esteem, low self-worth and/or negative experiences of education. That’s why relationships, trust, and emotional wellbeing are at the heart of our work. Our highly-skilled and compassionate staff team, all known as ‘coaches’, from the Headteacher to the support staff, endeavour to create a calm, predictable environment, where children feel secure enough to take risks, learn new skills and grow in confidence.

Our curriculum is adapted and personalised, designed to reduce anxiety while promoting engagement, resilience, and independence. We work closely with families, carers, and external professionals, to ensure every child receives the tailored support
they need to thrive academically as well as holistically.

Amberley Court School is more than just a place of learning — it’s a place of belonging. A place where progress is personal, every voice is heard, and every success is celebrated. Every child will have a THRIVE profile ( www.thriveapproach.com ) that is bespoke in aiding that   pupil to engage in all aspects of school life, whilst building skills and coping strategies that will aid them throughout their lives.

If you’d like to find out more, please don’t hesitate to get in touch or arrange a visit. We’d love to hear from you and welcome you into our small, friendly and caring school environment.

Take care,
James
